Wenn von Hochbegabung/Höchstbegabung gesprochen wird, sind oft die intellektuellen Fähigkeiten gemeint. Aber Hochbegabung/ Höchstbegabung ist viel mehr. Dazu zählen z.B. auch soziale Kompetenz, psychomotorisch-praktische Fähigkeiten (Formel 1), musische Fähigkeiten, bildnerisch-darstellende Begabungen (malen, fotografieren).
Manche Hochbegabte sind in einigen Fächern/Bereichen manchmal weniger begabt und zweifeln dann insgesamt an ihrem Können. Manche dieser Menschen haben eine sehr lange Pubertätsphase und fragen sich: werde ich überhaupt nicht erwachsen? (Was in mancher Hinsicht auch ein Vorteil sein kann.)
Ein auffallendes Problem ist der Selbstzweifel – und auch der Zweifel von anderen – vor dem Hintergrund des tiefen inneren „Wissens“ oder der Intuition: Ich weiss, dass ich etwas ganz Besonderes kann bzw. : Ich weiss, dass ich etwas ganz besonders (gut) kann.
